Learn to spin with Jennifer Monahan from the Fibreworkshop. She will teach you how to use one of the oldest, simplest and cheapest methods of spinning fibre into yarn.
Historians say the spinning wheel was first invented in the 1200s but was banned as the yarn it produced was not considered to be as good as the yarn from a hand-held, drop spindle.
Jen will take you through the basics of using a modern version of this ancient tool and help you to produce your own handspun yarn to take away with you.
No previous experience is necessary. This is an opportunity to learn a skill that was once second nature to our ancestors.
Please check in at the information desk 15 minutes before your workshop and a member of staff will take you to the right place.
