A free lunchtime. History, applications and techniques.

Heather Flint is The Smocking Lady, an expert in English smocking practitioner.

Smocking is a traditional embroidery technique which gathers fabric in tight pleats.

It allows the fabric to stretch, provides decoration and can be used to create all manner of objects.

Join Heather for an informal lunchtime illustrated talk and discussion.

Perhaps you have knowledge that you'd like to share too?

Whatever your level of skill and experience, this is a delightful way to spend a lunch hour.

From medieval tunics, to society gowns, to 70's pinafores... there's a lot of textile history to unpick!
