Here’s another treat for knitting and crochet enthusiasts. Margaret Seaman, one of the knitters who helped create the Butterfly Garden and the Enchanted Wood – two exhibits which stopped people in their tracks at previous Makers’ Month events – has been hard at work.
She has re-created 1970s Great Yarmouth sea front in yarn, with a little help from her friends. The installation was constructed in Margaret’s daughter’s front room; it’s about 14 feet long! Here are a few early pictures of some of the little figures of holiday makers, fishermen and bathers and some of the buildings.
When the display is finished anyone who remembers Yarmouth in its hey day will enjoy seeing both piers, the skating rink, the swimming pool and other well known landmarks.
The display will be on public view throughout the Norfolk Makers’ Festival where Margaret hopes it will help raise even more money for the Louise Hamilton Trust.
