A selection of finished work, created by members of the Norwich branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild, is on display in The Gallery during the Festival, illustrating individual styles of stitch and colour work.
Embroidery is no longer the domain of fabric and thread. Textile art now embraces the world of mixed media, dyeing with rust and plants, print and videos, amongst other things.
Members of the 76 Textile Group, which is the Norwich branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild, are displaying work created by members at Guild workshops.
You can meet members of the local Guild, in the main Atrium of The Forum, on the first three days of the Festival, and during the half term week, and help create a display of embroidered luggage labels.
This is a free activity and open to everyone as no experience is necessary.
Members of the Norwich Guild are also holding two paid for workshops.
