Whittling for beginners

This event has already taken place.

Make your own talking stick or spatula by whittling a specially selected piece of wood. You will be whittling safely and correctly with knives under the supervision of Ray Noakes, a multi media artist who specialises in ‘bushcraft’ workshops.

Talking sticks will be finished using natural pigment paint and decorated with feathers, wool and beads.

Spatulas will be finished with linseed oil and can be used in your kitchen or for outdoor cooking.

Both projects are suitable for aged seven and upwards, with under 14s accompanied by an adult.

Dates: Sat 16 Feb + Mon 18 Feb

Times: 9am – 11am / 12pm – 2pm / 3pm – 5pm

Prices: Talking Sticks £5 / Spatula £8

Minimum age: 7

To book:  raynoakes@outlook.com

Watch Ray demonstrate stone age craft and bush craft on Sun 17 Feb at the Festival. Witness items being whittled including spears, boomerangs, spoons and fish hooks to name just a few. He will have a camp and artifacts on display for show and tell, as well as items for sale.
