Martin Symons and Ellen Ross are posing for free sketching and drawing sessions at the Festival. Paper and pencils are provided for free. Or bring your own drawing or painting equipment.
Both Martin and Ellen have scoliosis, a condition that causes the spine to curve, and are involved in campaigns to raise awareness both of this condition and of other issues that affect people with disabilities.
Join them, draw them, paint them and chat to them as you work.
Ellen says: “Scoliosis has been a part of my life now for 16 years. I’ve had three major operations on my back and one operation on my neck. I used to be worried about how I looked and hide my scars, but I’ve come to learn to love them as they show what I’ve been through to get to me to where I am today. Taking part in this event will enable me to hopefully help others in a similar situation. Raising awareness is so important. We all should be proud of who we are regardless of our journeys.”
