Sevanti Roy is an artist, textile designer and block printer. Working under the name Sevanti Designs, she creates nature and
architecture inspired prints and designs from her studio next to the
river on the Norfolk Broads.
In this talk Sevanti will be taking us on a journey of the paisley motif, inspired by natural forms, from its origins in Persia to here in Norfolk.
Paisley patterns became popular in the west in the 18th and 19th centuries, following imports bearing the design from India, especially in the form of Kashmir shawls.
These shawls were replicated by designers and weavers here in the UK and by the makers of the famous Norwich Shawls.
This is a free talk held in The Gallery, at The Forum.
