Sue Maton is a textile designer from Norwich who has a passion for yarn, crochet, colours, tradition and teaching.
She has a degree and an MA in Textile Design and her online company is called The Mercerie.
In this free, lunchtime talk, Sue explores the role of crafting in the 21st Century.
Tracing a history from the Industrial Revolution through the Arts and Crafts movement, Bauhaus and Craftivism, Sue asks what place is there in contemporary culture for the hand made object?
And what value do we place on these things?
Is it time to rethink how, and why, we make?
Sue is leading the Homage to the Granny Square project at this year’s Festival.
